“At the Monarch School Project (MSP) we take our duty of fiscal responsibility and the trust of our donors and the San Diego community very seriously. Fiscal responsibility means that we ensure the donors’ money is kept safe and used only to carry out MSP’s mission of helping homeless and at-risk students. As evidence of this, we have a solid finance and accounting team in place, as well as strong internal financial controls, including the requirement of an annual independent financial audit. Staff reports the financial activity of the school to both the MSP Board of Directors and the Finance Committee on a monthly basis, and is very open in discussing variances to our annual budget, as well as other spending and investing activity. This combination of a talented and dedicated staff and Board members, along with the strong financial controls, ensures that the MSP’s finances are managed to the highest of standards.” Ron Araujo, Treasurer, MSP Board of Directors and CFO, Mission Federal Credit Union
